Teviot Debating Hall

Teviot is the oldest purpose built Student Union in the world. It opened its doors in 1889 and it remains one of the most vibrant and well used Student Union venues in the country.

This is the largest venue of them all with its high ceilings and historic atmosphere. The Debating Hall is no stranger to traditional ceilidhs, sit down dinners, receptions, buffets, club nights, band nights, parties, presentations and theatre evenings. This is arguably the most versatile as well as the largest venue in Teviot. The capacity depends on the event, for dinners it is 230 while for clubnights it is 410. There is disabled access to this venue. There is a full sound and lighting system in place and technical support can be provided.

In 1994 a fire destroyed much of the original timber so it was all replaced. In 2020 new floor was put in.
