13th - 16th March, 19:30

It’s London 1726, and Mrs. Tull’s got problems. The whores are giving her a hard time, a man in a dress is looking for a job, her husband has a roving eye and the apprentice boy keeps disappearing for ‘a wander’. The play skips between the eighteenth century and 2001, where a group of wealthy gay men are preparing the drugs and video cameras for a sex party. The play is both an affectionate examination of the vitality and liberation of the molly house’s counterculture, and a regretful comment on the commodification of sex and love. Mother Clap’s Molly House, a black comedy with songs is a celebration of the diversity of human sexuality, an exploration of our need to form families and a fascinating insight into a hidden chapter in London’s history.

Please note that the age rating for this show is indicated at 18+ for semi-graphic depictions of sex and abortions. A full list of Content Warnings can be found on our website.

We hope to see a lot of you there!

Every Sunday 12:00 to 14:00 we do Maintenance where we tidy up the building and make some small building improvements. Everyone is welcome to help, we provide you with snacks and a good playlist.

If you have worked on a show you need to come to maintenance to tidy up after your show. If you do not, you will go into Maintenance Debt. You can clear this by coming to another Maintenance Session or talking to Lewis Eggeling (Theatre Manager). Similarly you will need to staff a show (or two if you did a mainterm) in exchange for other members staffing your show. You can sign up at [https://www.bedlamtheatre.co.uk/admin/staffings])https://www.bedlamtheatre.co.uk/admin/staffings)

If you have any questions about staffing please contact Luca Stier at [email protected]

After Maintenance we have Duty Management (DM) training from 14:00 to 14:30. During this time, we will teach you how to run the building during a show, open and lock up the building, and what to do in case of a fire. Theatre always needs to be at least one DM trained person present when the building is in use, so being DM trained is very helpful for Production Team members!
