No experience or preparation is necessary. Pieces will be provided on the day. Just come to the side door, ring the doorbell to be let in, and have fun!

The shows auditioning are:

THE OAK TREE by Ellie Deans

“It was the year that London burst. She cried and screamed consumed by a fiery hell of glass, bricks and anger. It was the year when flames brought a midnight dawn that engulfed our lives and blackened our neighbourhood. London was burning by Londoners’ hands. We awoke to a Britain, which we didn’t recognise.”

New original writing for EUTC. We all remember the London riots of 2011. Young people were once again thrown into the limelight portrayed as the damaged generation of Broken Britain. This play explores how the young person fits into society and challenges the validity of media portrayals of the dreaded ‘Youths’.

KHAMOSH PANI (SILENT WATERS) by Sabiha Sumar

“Charkhi, Pakistan, 1979. Ayesha is a Muslim, a widow, a mother; Veeru is an abandoned daughter, an abductee, a Sikh. Experience the pain and trauma of Partition when one village is forced to relive its past.”

We are proud to present the stage adaptation of Sabiha Sumar’s internationally acclaimed film ‘Khamosh Pani’ at the Bedlam Theatre. This is an opportunity to be a part of a pivotal moment for theatre in the UK with the very first staging of Khamosh Pani anywhere in the world.

THE BIRDS by Aristophanes (The Classics Play)

Tired of taxes and fines, two men quit Athens in search of a better life elsewhere. Their search leads them to find refuge with the most powerful force in the heavens - The Birds! Aristophanes’ raucous comedy is brought to life by the Classics Society, recast in a more modern setting with a cabaret theme. Join the Birds as they take on the gods for control of the heavens and set up their bizarre republic of Cuckoo in the Clouds.
