The Understudies is a completely improvised comedy musical that has just finished a fantastic run at Bedlam Fringe. Based entirely on audience suggestions, this long-form improv is a whirlwind of comical choreography and vocal prowess concerning the most mundane of objects and outlandish activities. With live musical accompaniment, this is an hour of energetic, animated and hilariously frivolous comedy.
Our players hail from a variety of comedic backgrounds. Many are alumni and current members of the Edinburgh University Theatre Company’s famed IMPROVERTS, Fringe’s longest running improvised comedy troupe. Many are regulars at The Stand Comedy Club, Grassroots Comedy Club and Monkey Barrel, as well as having a huge range of theatre experience with EUSOG, The Edinburgh University Shakespeare Society, The Edinburgh University Theatre Company and Theatre Paradok. Additional comedy credits include Jam Sandwich (Fringe 2016) and Heavy on the Breasts (Bedfest 2017).
